Art of Water
April 30, 2015 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
2nd Annual Art of Water
In 2014, the first annual Art of Water brought together over 300 people of all ages and backgrounds from the middle Chattahoochee region to celebrate the Chattahoochee River and the works of art it has inspired. Thanks to its overwhelming success last year, we look forward to hosting the 2nd Annual Art of Water in 2015 with the same emphasis on art, music, film and community!
This year’s art exhibit at the Cochran Gallery – running from May 1st to May 28th – will feature local photographers, painters and sculptors whose work focuses on the Chattahoochee River and the need to protect and preserve it for future generations. The opening night on May 1st will also feature musical performances by the blues & funk band Mudcat and African drumming by the Chattahoochee Rhythm Keepers in a festive and family-friendly block party on Main Street in Historic Downtown LaGrange!
To stay up-to-date on this event and learn more about the artists, musicians and other organizations that are participating, check out the event page on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/events/514737738665666/.
All proceeds of this event will benefit CRK’s upcoming West Point Lake Floating Classroom – an on-the-water program bringing math, science, ecology and history out of the classroom, offering hands-on learning opportunities for K-12 and undergraduate students in the middle Chattahoochee region for the first time. The floating classroom will serve as a laboratory for students at all levels to study lake ecology, watersheds and enhance their environmental knowledge.
