Guardián del río Chattahoochee is excited to host this paddle cleanup with Chattahoochee Outdoors as part of our Trash-Free Chattahoochee initiative on Saturday, August 8th, 8am start.

We will be paddling out of Bush Head Shoals Park near Franklin, Georgia, and traveling around the islands picking up trash.

Specific trip details will be emailed to you the week prior to the trip date. Volunteers must provide their own kayak/canoe, paddle and coast guard approved noninflatable PFD, water and lunch/snacks. Boats can be rented through Chattahoochee Outdoors and the link above. Additional details will be provided in your confirmation email.

For planning purposes, we will meet at the park at 8am and should conclude by 12pm. Plan to bring a lunch/snacks for after the trip.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
All participants must be able to swim efficiently. All participants must be able to get in and out of a kayak easily (i.e. those with knee or back injuries may have difficulty). Paddling uses your core muscles, arms, and shoulders. Anyone with injuries in these areas may have difficulty. Please consult your physician if you are concerned about participating.

AGE REQUIREMENTS
If paddling solo, paddlers must be at least 15 years old. If paddling tandem, youth must be at least 10 years old and accompanied by an adult at least 21 years old.

SAFETY POLICIES
The paddle will be called off if there is a threat of severe thunderstorms/lightning OR if the river is running high due to rain or an upstream release of water from dams.
