Who are Water Warriors?

With the future of our waterways at stake, what would happen if every young person living within our watershed learned how to protect their local creeks, lakes, and rivers? The Water Warriors program seeks to empower students as river advocates through educational and outreach opportunities, helping young people foster connections with their communities and the Chattahoochee River.

Water Warriors on Summer Break

During summer break, Chattahoochee Riverkeeper welcomes high school students into our offices to get hands-on experience shadowing our program staff. By spending time in the lab for Neighborhood Water Watch analysis, inspecting CASSI units, and cleaning out trash traps, students gain practical insight on how these programs work to protect our river and watershed.

Update: The WWSB 2024 program has reached capacity. For questions about future Water Warriors opportunities, email Jillian Griffin at [email protected].

Water Warriors on Campus

Water Warriors on Campus equips high school and college students to engage their peers on the importance of water conservation and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s mission. Students dedicate hours to the work of improving the Chattahoochee watershed through cleanups, fundraising, and leading conversations about this work in their schools and communities.

Guerreros del agua Wander + Wonder

The Water Warriors Wander and Wonder is a one-day, outdoor environmental education and recreation program hosted at Murphy Candler Park in metro Atlanta. CRK is leading a collaboration with Paddle4mañanaBirds Georgia to provide rising fifth, sixth, and seventh-grade students with outdoor experiences including a birding nature walk, water science demonstration, and kayaking lesson.

¿Cómo puedes involucrarte?

Become a Water Warrior during the school year and while on summer break! We’re looking for high school and college students who are interested in learning about Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s work to protect our watershed and who are excited to get their hands dirty.

The CRK Water Warriors program has been a very influential part of my leadership and environmental advocacy journey in high school, and I would not be where I am today without the opportunities and support from CRK.
