Las floraciones de algas nocivas, o HAB, ocurren cuando las bacterias fotosintéticas que viven en el agua dulce crecen sin control. Cuando las FAN florecen, producen toxinas que pueden afectar a las personas, los peces, las aves y otros animales salvajes. Los científicos predicen que el cambio climático y el aumento de la contaminación por nutrientes pueden provocar la aparición de FAN en muchos lugares que no se habían visto afectados anteriormente. En este seminario web, la Dra. Susan Wilde de la Universidad de Georgia, Annie Couch del Área Nacional de Recreación del Río Chattahoochee y Jason Ulseth y Jess Sterling de Chattahoochee Riverkeeper analizan la amenaza de las HAB en la cuenca del río Chattahoochee.
