Let’s Chatt: Harmful Algal Blooms

Harmful algal blooms, or HABs, happen when photosynthetic bacteria that live in freshwater grow out of control. When HABs bloom, they produce toxins that can impact people, fish, birds and other wildlife. Scientists predict that climate change and increasing nutrient pollution may cause HABs to occur in many locations not previously affected. In this webinar, Dr. Susan Wilde from the University of Georgia, Annie Couch from the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, and Jason Ulseth and Jess Sterling from Chattahoochee Riverkeeper discuss the threat of HABs in the Chattahoochee River watershed.
